Spanish & Volunteer

We enjoy helping you to help the local community. Montanita Spanish School currently has the following volunteering options available:

Elementary/Primary School
This is a typical poor village school. The children are super friendly. It is not long before the local children are coming up to you in the street to say ‘Hola’. You will be helping with the teacher, especially with teaching some English (don’t worry, experience is not necessary and we will provide you with a teaching curriculum). You can also be helping with arts, crafts or sports if you wish. Please note that the school is a 5-minute bus trip (25 cents each way) from Montañita.

Local Veterinary
Volunteer with Otto, the local veterinarian, as he takes care of the local animals, many of which have been neglected. Be fully involved in the day to day life of a veterinarian. This volunteer project often includes traveling out to small, local Fincas (farms).

Local Children’s Nursery
You can help at a local nursery for half a dozen local poor children. There is strong community spirit and the local community encourages you to become involved. This is often extremely rewarding, making friends and helping the local children. There are very few resources and help is really needed. Your input is appreciated.

Hospital
An excellent volunteering option for medical professionals. Please refer to our Medical Spanish page for additional information.

All of the above volunteer projects are completely free with your enrollment at Montañita Spanish School. We strongly believe that students should not be charged to help our community and strongly encourage all students to volunteer.

Montanita Spanish school voted by the Language Industry as one of the top 5 Spanish schools worldwide (STAR awards 2009)
